ET CANADA was looking for a one-man-band cameraman in Madrid – what we call here at The MAP Agency a “videojournalist.”   For two days in May, we covered a fashion show, interviewed designers,  shot stand ups at fashion stores,  and did a few fashion shoots at Madrid landmarks.  It was a lot of fun!

(RedHill Media is my new company for video production. The MAP Agency still runs the Madrid tourism magazine MAPMagazine.com and offers writers and photographers to clients).

My Madrid-based video production company RedHill Media recently just finished a pilot video for Fender  Spain’s new web television initiative.  We provided the full camera crew, video gear, and studio space here in Madrid. The video should be up soon on Redill’s blog!

I’ve been ignoring the blog for awhile… time to get back onboard! Last month I filmed a segment on The Burial Of The Sardine here in Madrid, Spain.

Yup, once a year Madrileans get together and bury a Sardine. It all officially starts at 6PM with a wild parade, ending after sundown at a park where the drunken participants sing around a bonfire. After asking around a bit, we found out that the partying “unofficially” starts alot earlier…in fact, the head honchos had been drinking booze since 10am!

Right, but surely you want to know -why bury a sardine?!! Well, Spaniards will take any reason for a party. Apparently, way back when a bad shipment of Sardines came into Madrid and the only thing to do was bury them. Someone decided to mix it up with funeral music, booze, and well it just became a tradition…
